Parking in Downtown New London

New London offers free on-street parking with an enforced two-hour limit during weekdays. Three free Municipal Lots, also with an enforced two-hour limit during weekdays, are open to the public. (Note: don't park in the permit areas, such as the Eugene O'Neill side of lot #2.). There is no two-hour limit on weekends. Monthly parking permits can be obtained in the office of the Water Street Parking Garage.

Water Street Garage has free two-hour parking spots in front and to the left of the entrance. The inside portion of the garage is paid parking. Note: Both Mapquest and Yahoo Maps currently misplace this location by one block. Use Google Maps to find customized directions.

Going Southeast on Blackhall Street toward Truman Street:

  1. Turn LEFT onto TRUMAN STREET.
  2. TRUMAN ST becomes JAY ST.
  3. Turn LEFTonto HUNTINGTON STREET
  4. Turn RIGHT onto GOVERNOR WINTHROP BLVD
  5. Turn LEFT onto WATER STREET
  6. End at the garage at 160 WATER STREET

Cornish Parking Garage is open for entry 8 AM to 12 noon.

Coming from Norwich & points North:

  1. Take I-395 South to (LEFT) EXIT 78.
  2. Follow exit to merge with RT 32 to be heading South toward New London.
  3. Continue on RT32, following signs to "Downtown New London"
  4. RT 32 becomes EUGENE ONEILL DRIVE
  5. Turn RIGHT onto GOVERNOR WINTHROP BLVD
  6. Turn LEFT onto UNION STREET
  7. 70 Union Street will be on your LEFT

Coming from points South:

  1. Take I-95 North to EXIT 83 toward Norwich/Downtown New London
  2. Stay straight to go onto HUNTINGTON STREET
  3. Turn LEFT onto GOVERNOR WINTHROP BLVD
  4. Turn RIGHT onto UNION STREET
  5. End at 70 UNION STREET
