A rich musical history and a new, famed musical director have brought the Eastern Connecticut Symphony to new heights. Toshiyuki Shimada was recently selected as the new music director and conductor from over 220 international applicants. Founded in 1946, the Symphony enriches the musical landscape of southeastern Connecticut, as well as conducts outreach programs for the community. The symphony performs six concerts a year at the Garde Arts Center in New London. A chorus and a youth orchestra, under the ECSO umbrella, each perform several concerts annually.
