THE GALLERY AT FIREHOUSE SQUARE is New London'ss only art gallery focusing primarily on maritime art. Located in the former F.L. Allen Firehouse at 239 Bank St. on the city's Historic District Heritage Trail, the gallery offers for sale 19th, 20th and 21st century works of art, including original oils and watercolors, many of which capture scenes of boats under sail, lighthouses and the coastal landscape of southeastern Connecticut; limited edition prints, sculpture in wood and metal, decoys, scrimshaw and New London memorabilia. Prices range from $25-$50 up to $13,000. The gallery features works by several local artists, including graduates of the Lyme Academy College of Fine Art. Adjoining the main gallery is the Brick Annex Gallery, a brick-walled space for visiting artists to display their photography, painting and sculpture, and at the rear of the building is an outdoor sculpture garden. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday beginning April 30. Please call for additional information and to schedule appointments at other times.
