Time to Say Goodbye
Time to Say GoodbyeBy Brittany Bousquet
New London Main Street Intern
August 8, 2012
Its hard to believe that the time has come when my internship is over. This is my last week at New London Main Street, and this is my final blog.
Please keep an eye out for my final articles as they get posted. I have an article about Gaspars New American Cuisine, A. Vincent Scarano Photographer, Native Boards (a wonderful store that opened last month) and my final dessert article. There may even be one or two surprises.
I want to share with you some of the components that have made up my summer. I am one of three summer interns. I have used 4 legal pads and 16 manila folders. I have bought 900 stamps. I have conducted 18 interviews, written 19 articles and 9 blogs (including this one). I have sent and received 262 emails and 5 faxes. I have been in between 245 and 250 photos. I have eaten at 4 New London restaurants and shopped at 2 New London stores. There was 1 baby mouse in our office.
My summer hasnt been all about numbers and tally counts though. From Penny Parsekian and Joanne Gibson I have learned many lessons. Some of them are listed below.
*Dont be afraid of technology.
*Its OK to make mistakes thats how you learn.
*Women can do anything.
*(I learned) how to leave a nice phone message and not hurt anyones feelings.
*Take my time with my writing.
*Always recycle.
From Satomi I learned how to delegate tasks, answer the phone, and I learned how much work goes into being an office manager. (I filled in for her while she was on vacation.)
As you can see, my summer was full of learning, exploring and having fun. I met wonderful people and had wonderful experiences. Interning here at New London Main Street was a phenomenal experience. Thank you to everyone who has read my blogs and articles this summer. Thank you to everyone both in New London and here at Main Street who helped make my internship and my summer wonderful and an experience I wont soon forget.
