Don’t Miss the Boat is a 2- day event to capitalize on boats that will be in the area in July and to keep the energy of OpSail/ Sailfest going for two weeks. This event will include antique boats, the Nimble Arts Circus as well as a music performance by a 2012 Grammy Award winning band, The Rebirth Brass Band.

This free nautical themed event will be held on Saturday July 14 and 15 at New London Waterfront Park. New London’s own Mystic Whaler will also be available for day sails. If antiques boats are your style stop by to see Bay State Woodies, a display of classic rebuilt Chris-craft boats. These are one of a kind restoration projects. Here, you can meet up with those talented folks and get a little advice on how to do it yourself. So, if old boats are not you thing, how about a boat ride to see one of New London’s two lighthouses? This is a chance of a life time, for the first time in 250 years of the New London Harbor light will be open for tours.

Entertainment for this event is not to be missed; children will love the performance of the Nimble Arts Circus. On Saturday the Nimble Arts Circus will perform two shows as well as a juggling work shop.Children and families interested in more nautical themes can stroll the pier to learn about real working boats like a U.S. Coast Guard Cutter (vessel to be determined), the Mystic Whaler, tugboats Patricia Ann and John Paul from Cross Sound Ferry Services and the New London Community Boating’s youth sailing program.
