Carey Williams' 2007 Poster
Carey Williams works in a variety of media ranging from fabric to oil, pastel, watercolor, and colored pencil. She particularly enjoys combining traditional rug hooking techniques with the art of portraiture, dying her own wool to obtain the variety of shades one might mix in an artist's palette.
The subjects she finds most inspiring involve the human face, figure, and hands. Williams has combined her interest in the arts with her work in counseling, using art therapy with children and adults in emotional crisis.
In her twenty-five years as a painter, Carey Williams has exhibited in shows and galleries in Connecticut and Massachusetts. She is currently a member of the Artist's Cooperative of Westerly, R.I. Her work is in private collections throughout the Northeast.
Carey Williams was born in Winsted, Connecticut, and currently resides in North Stonington with her husband Lou, and her daughter Sierra. She was educated at Central Connecticut University and the Pratt Institute.
