President's Perspective, Winter 2007
Exciting things continue to happen within Main Street and the Historic Waterfront district. This year we were chosen by New London-based and nationally recognized marketing and design firm Smizer Perry for its Pro Bono Program. The firm is re-branding the district and donating its services for this effort.
This spring our annual light pole banner program will unveil the new image designed by Smizer Perry. We are very excited about this opportunity. It will help to provide a contemporary and fitting image for downtown, expressing the city's renaissance.
In addition to unveiling a new image in 2008, we are adding a special offer to the light pole banner program: to include advertising on New London Main Street's successful and active website. Web traffic has recently doubled, and continues to grow at a rate of more than 50% annually. Your business name will appear for a whole year randomly across the top of a web page and in sidebar listings on the site which will be linked to your website or to your listing in our directory.
This is a great opportunity for your company to play an important supporting role in providing a fresh, vibrant look for the district! Give me a call at 961-7746 for details before we stamp "sold out" on the offer!
Our dynamic board wants you! If you are a business or building owner in the district and have ideas of how we can increase residential opportunities and retail activities, please consider joining us. You only have to commit to six board meetings a year and involvement on one of our four core committees: Design, Economic Enhancement, Promotion or Organization. If you're new to our area, it's a great way to become involved in our community and meet the "key players". Take us for a "test drive" by attending one of our committee meetings. Log on to our website at newlondonmainstreet.org to learn more about what each committee is doing and when they meet. No advanced reservations necessary — just stop by at the designated time… see you then!
