Promotion Committee Report, Fall 2007

As the summer winds down, I look forward to fall and the "cornucopia" of upcoming projects and events with great anticipation. Thanks to the help of Tita Williams and a great group of volunteers, the latest edition of the downtown dining guide will be ready just in time for the Fall Food Strollers, who will be the first to receive a copy. To our delight, the guide listings just keep growing as we plan to feature all of downtown's latest additions.

Helping us to make the District a destination is Smizer Perry, who earlier this year awarded us with a pro-bono grant to design and develop a branding image for the Historic Waterfront District. After seeing all of their designs, we agreed that we had a winner on our hands. This beautiful new image will express our vision for downtown. Stay tuned to welcome a "new brand" of downtown!

Despite all that says Autumn like the Fall Food Stroll, the Dining Guide and other crisp, exciting projects, there are elves here in the office hard at work planning the Celebration of Lights and Song and the Holly and the Ivy, both taking place in December. Tickets for the living history play will be available beginning November 1st at the Garde Arts Center, and you won't want to miss Ballet On Display at Lights & Song. What a great opportunity to get your holiday shopping done as you explore the District! Please contact Kim Bartlett if you want to help plan this year's magical event!

The Promotion Committee meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 5:30pm at the Main Street office.
