Organization Committee Chair's Report, Fall 2008
Needless to say, it was long overdue, but Joanne Gibson made sure that this year a volunteer appreciation party happened. Joanne is the volunteer "pulse"—she recruits, assigns, trains and definitely appreciates each and every Main Street volunteer!
But who best to coordinate this project? Well, of course, one of our newest committee members, Keith Sexton-Patrick. Keith jumped into the task of planning a special event for our volunteers. He contacted Dave Sugrue at Ocean Beach, who loved the idea of partnering with Main Street, and what a spread they put out for us! Over 50 volunteers enjoyed wonderful food, music from the Car Cruise, and a view we sometimes take for granted.
We are also excited about, and so fortunate to have, ten college interns working on Main Street initiatives this fall—students from Connecticut College, Mitchell College and Eastern CT University. A big thank you, too, goes out to our office, and "special project"—Betty Cole, Mary Sanderson, Tia Williams, and Barbara Winkler.
Thank you to all who have renewed your memberships. If you haven't sent it in yet, please do so now—your support is vital to all we do! The Organization Committee meets on the fourth Monday of every month at 6:00 PM at the Main Street office. Please consider joining us. We welcome your energy and enthusiasm to our team!
