Light up New London!

by NLMS Director

“Light up New London!” is a crowdfunding campaign to create a positive perception of downtown New London by working with property and store owners to install LED lights inside storefront windows. The effort is being spearheaded by New London Main Street, who was chosen for a Cultivating Place Challenge grant from the National Main Street Center (NMSC), in partnership with ioby, a national, nonprofit crowdfunding platform. In 2016, Connecticut Main Street Center was one of five main street programs across the nation to be http://ctmainstreet.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Ioby-snip.jpgselected by NMSC and Project for Public Spaces (PPS) for a two-day training aimed at helping Main Street communities revitalize their downtowns using placemaking. NMSC and ioby are now building on this training by offering the Cultivating Place Challenge matching funds, training, and one-on-one fundraising coaching to communities in those five pilot states who are ready to implement placemaking projects, including New London Main Street.
