Spring Food Stroll 2007
Registration is now open for the 2008 Spring Food Stroll!
Wednesday, May 16, 2007, 5:30-8:30 PM New London Main Street's popular New London Historic Waterfront District Food Stroll returns! Over 50 downtown businesses will roll out the red carpet for the Historic Waterfront District Spring Food Stroll. Twenty-nine restaurants, cafes, clubs, and caterers will offer samples of their most popular dishes, while over two dozen merchants, galleries, salons and studios will offer snacks and specials ranging from mini-massages to free video emails to anywhere in the world. Online sales have ended, but buttons are available at the event.

New London Fire Department Pipe Band entertains as they make their way through the streets.
Food from around the world will be featured at New London Main Street's Spring Food Stroll, May 16 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the downtown Historic Waterfront District. The cuisines of Mexico, India, Thailand, Italy, Ireland, and South America, in addition to familiar American fare, will be available for tasting in the district's restaurants, cafes, and clubs.
During the stroll, merchants will offer specials from a veritable bazaar of shops, galleries and an open air market. The New London Saturday Market will provide a preview of its upcoming summer season with a Latin American bazaar of art, crafts, music, and food on the Parade Plaza.
Free pedicab rides will be offered throughout the Stroll route by the Mystic River Historical Society. A unique bicycle/Model T replica will also be available for rides.

To the right: Former Food Stroll chair Kathleen Neal enjoys samplings offered by Drew and Cori of the Atrium Cafe. Below: Strollers enjoy traditional bagpipe music outside Captain's Pizza on Bank Street.
Admission is $25 pre-sale and $30 on the day of the Stroll and includes samples of signature dishes in each of the participating restaurants, merchant specials in the shops, plus one free drink coupon. A discounted student/child price of $15 is also available (does not include a drink coupon). Online sales are now closed, but buttons may be purchased at the event. Buttons ordered online may be picked up at the hospitality table in front of the New London Main Street office (The Atrium, at 165 State Street) on the day of the Stroll
Food strollers will be provided with an updated copy of the district dining guide and a map indicating the locations of all participating venues, which will be identified by cascading petunias in plant stands.
The 2007 New London Saturday Market's sixth season previews at the Spring Food Stroll!
The NLSM will be moving from the Parade Plaza to the Garde Theater Gallery Space on the corner of State St. & Meridian just for the day. (Due to "anticipated" breeziness that would make for tough conditions for an entire venue supported by tents.)"
New London Saturday Market will be offering a unique blend of fine arts, crafts, and international speciality vendors and performers. For more details about the New London Saturday Market's sixth season, see the New London Saturday Market Preview at the Spring Food Stroll!.
Discounted parking will be available at the Cornish Parking Garage on Winthrop Street for $5 (half price). Let the attendant know you're attending the event to receive the discounted price. ProPark Parking on Water Street is offering parking for $2 after 4 PM.
The Spring Food Stroll is sponsored by the City of New London, The Day, Cross Sound Ferry, the Mohegan Sun and UBS Financial.
