Fall Food Stroll 2007
Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 5:30-8:30 PM Get ready for a spectacular Fall Food Stroll! Visit some of your old favorites and check out the many new eateries and shops! This is the seventh Food Stroll for the Historic Waterfront District. Nearly fifty downtown venues will participate — restaurants, bistros, cafes, caterers, galleries, salons, shops, and studios — all welcoming you to try their special offerings.
This year's event will feature the Connecticut Department of Agriculture's new "Farm to Chef Program". We will also work with FRESH New London. The goal: to provide downtown chefs with fresh homegrown ingredients harvested from local farms and community gardens to create sumptuous seasonal delights. Restaurants will offer their most popular menu items — from appetizers to desserts — for sampling.
New this fall: Win a basket of Connecticut-grown and -produced items, including maple syrup, honey, spagetti sauce, balsamic vinegar, sundried bruscetta spread, salad dressings, olive oil imported from family olive groves in Greece, and a CT Grown sweatshirt and cap by filling out and tearing off the stub on your drink coupon and depositing it at the Dept. of Agriculture tent on Parade Plaza on stroll night.
Shops and boutiques will feature specials and new fall merchandise, including items created by local artisans or incorporating Connecticut-grown ingredients. Enjoy promotions, demonstrations, and extended hours.
Stroll to the music of bluegrass tunes and country favorites by our best local performers: Second Circle, The Can Kickers, The River Gods, Craig "Honey Boy" Edwards. Hanafin's will host the Gallaibh Ceilidh Band and the CT Lyric Opera will be performing selections from their upcoming production of La Boheme in the Atrium.
Purchase your admission buttons online or in person. Advance pricing is $25 for adults and $15 for students. Pricing on the day of the Stroll will be $30 for adults and $20 for students. Buttons are available now for purchase online (via Eventbrite) until midnight the night before the Stroll. Your button will be waiting for you at the New London Main Street office, The Atrium, 165 State Street. Or register in person at the Main Street office.
Parking is available for $1 per hour at the Water Street Garage. Strollers must show the parking attendant their buttons on the way out of the garage. Parking is also available at the Cornish Parking Garage for $5 per vehicle for the evening. Payment is expected at the time you arrive at the garage. Just tell the parking attendant you are with the Fall Food Stroll.
