Fair Trade Fashion Show

Flavours of Life

Sunday, May 6, 2007, 1 PM to 3 PM Flavours of Life fair trade retailer at 88 Bank Street will close their store until 3 PM in order to present the Fair Trade Fashion Show. (The store will open after to the public after 3 PM.)

The fashion show hopes to raise awareness of fair trade clothing, the role of women in making the clothes, and the value to their local communities (women supporting their families, leading to their ability to gain financial independence, health care, education, traditional cultural methods).

A reception with champagne and international appetizers will be held from 1-2 PM and the fashion show will take place from 2 PM to 3 PM. Tickets will be $20 (seating for only 50 people).

This is a community event with participation by Bethany Angell, Trish Burgie-Capps, Rita Champlain, Claudia Highbaugh, Mirna Martiniz, Penny Parsekian, Tracee Reiser, Minerva Sadorra, Gayatri Saxena, Sara Sargent, Bob Stuller, Nelson Ward, with catering by Amy Sarcia, photography by Jerry, and hosted by Rhonda Ward & David Lewis. Women Behind the Label: Strength, Beauty & Dignity, celebrating women the world over, those who make the clothing & those who wear it!
The Community of New London support fair trade! Honoring the women in our lives. (Models' statements about an influential woman in their life will be read aloud.)
